shortly after appreciating my work from home setup, i heard a water trickling sound effect. this is normal, as I have two sump pumps, and they typically always have water trickling into them, but today it sounded different than usual, so i went downstairs to check on it

my fireplace is peeing onto my floor. im pissed.

the previous owner stated: "water Ocasionally comes in through downstairs fireplace" (sic)

when asked via email to my realtor to his realtor to him, back to his realto to my realtor to me, I heard "oh yeah thats due to the crack in the chimney cap its small and doesn't come in often just some moisture every once in a while"

the hell it isn't? any idiot with a couple brain cells can obviously tell (during a rainstorm) that there are drainage issues. Sucks that this wasn't picked up in the buying process and unfortunate that real estate is a scam so the seller holds zero liability for this. If my shitty realtor and the sellers shitty realtor wouldn't have REFUSED to let me directly talk to the seller, this would not have been an issue because I would have known ahead of time...

anyways, he also states "there is a whole basement waterproofing system installed with lifetime warranty" so i guess i better phone them...

after getting the run around for 30 minutes I get told "the warranty hasn't been paid up since 2012" (apparently you have to pay $75/year to 'maintain' the warranty) (how the f is that even a warranty??) and I am asked for the amount it would cost to bring that coverage up to date. I am told I will have to wait for him to get a quote.

next day, I call back because he didn't call me. still waiting on quote. I repeated this for three days before finally giving up. screw you "everydry" what a waste of money.

anyways-
