upstairs kitchen sink leak

house

just when i thought the water problems were done...

my girlfriend and I are cozy in my twin bed, going to sleep, and I hear MORE dripping

i kind of jolted up and shes all worried sayin- "whats wrong??? are you ok???"

"SHHH. I HEAR DRIPPING"

"babe its probably just the sump dra-"

"NO i know what the sump drain sounds like its not that"

So I get up to walk to my basement to inspect, and hear a drip from the sink as I walk by.

How could I forget, I have a leaky faucet, and it just so happens that it was dripping into my cup that I left water in to soak overnight

but I know not to trust this evil troll lemon house, so I open the cabinet underneath the sink just to check-

I find that the way the dishwasher was improperly hooked up (rubber hose hose clamped to 3/8 copper tube without a barb) is leaking. Who knows how long, this leak actually wasn't making any noise, so I am lucky I was lazy and left a dirty dish with water overnight.

Luckily I randomly bought this tiny bucket at home depot because it was cute and only like $1, because my full size buckets wouldn't have fit, and I don't have any bowls, plates, or cups yet LOL

I don't even have any pipe wrenches or anything. So I put bucket underneath and went back to bed. Tomorrow problem.

disposalout.jpg

I pulled the garbage disposal out, and the smell is genuniely worse than anything else I have smelled. I would say even the sour smell of a warm dead human body is not as putrid as whatever is in this garbage disposal. (I work with cadavers at work sometimes and they have to be warmed to represent a real human temperature) Sadly I will be reinstalling the disposal and replacing it later when I re-do all the plumbing underneath this sink.

UPDATE: It has been almost 3 months and I still haven't had time to fix this LOL my sink stinks so bad

I was really worried the iron pipe was going to break off in the wall from rust or whatever, but I lucked out and it didn't!

One mistake I made was only buying ONE pipe wrench. This made the job take like, 2 hours when it should have taken 20 minutes.

Eventually I got the leaky valve replaced with a new quarter turn, sealed it up good, and for now I just left the dishwasher supply disconnected because the dishwasher is disgusting inside as well so I plan on replacing it.
